Approval to attend FSY is based on receiving parental approval, priesthood leader approval (Bishop/Branch President) and approval from the organising committee. Approval is also determined based on the age requirements, attendance priority and any other criteria set out in these Terms and Conditions.

When your registration is officially approved by the organising committee you will be notified via an official email. Until you receive this official notification from the organising committee your registration is in a pending approval state.

• Non-members within the participating stakes
• Members and non-members outside participating stakes who receive the approval set forth below.

Participation of youth from outside the participating stakes is generally not encouraged. The only exception would be if:

• There were extraordinary circumstances
• The Stake President of such individual concurred
• The assigned Area Seventy for the conference concurred
• The individual can pay the full price to attend the conference (not the subsidised price for those youth from participating stakes).

3. Age
Your registration will be considered if you meet the age requirements as outlined on the perthfsy2021.ldsconventions.com web site, i.e. you must be at least 14 years of age (inclusive) by December 31st 2021, and at most 18 years of age on 23rd January 2021.

4. Accommodation
Accommodation will be allocated to participants by the organising committee. You agree to comply with the room allocations which will be communicated to you on arrival at the conference. The organising committee will make every effort possible to help meet any special accommodation needs.

You agree to abide by the following conditions as set by Curtin University colleges:

This authorisation includes transportation to any medical facilities if required. Any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies etc. are to be fully disclosed in your registration details. If you have registered after Sun 12 Nov 2017 or your medical conditions have changed or you have not yet disclosed any medical or dietary information to the committee, please notify the committee immediately via email to reedys@carandree.com.au.

STANDARDS OVERVIEW

The Lord has said, “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly” (D&C 121:45).  The natural follow on principle is found in the thirteenth Article of Faith “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and in doing good to all men… if there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”

Youth who attend the conference are expected to live in harmony with gospel teachings and to dress and act in accordance with the standards contained in the For the Strength of Youth booklet. This will ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable and uplifting experience.

Click here to view the LDS Youth web site and "For the Strength of Youth" standards

All youth are to adhere to these standards including the Young Men and Young Women Standards as outlined below.

Adherence to these standards will be enforced; participants will not be allowed to attend if they are not appropriately dressed and groomed.

Any youth involved in any of the following activities will be sent home immediately:

THE BIG FIVE:

  1. Participating in or encouraging immoral behaviour of any kind
  2. Theft of any kind
  3. Breaking the Word of Wisdom
  4. Possessing weapons or illegal substances of any kind
  5. Doing anything harmful to yourself or others, physically or spiritually

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

Dress and Appearance - "The way you dress is a reflection of what you are on the inside. Your dress and grooming send messages about you to others and influence the way you and others act" (For the Strength of Youth, pg 16).

"Modesty is an attitude of humility and decency in dress, grooming, language, and behaviour. If you are modest, you do not draw undue attention to yourself. Instead, you seek to glorify God in your body, and in your spirit" (True to the Faith [2004], pg 106).

Youth are expected to maintain gospel standards and follow all dress and appearance guidelines (see For the Strength of Youth, pg. 9–12 for details).

Language and Behaviour - “Like your dress and grooming, your language and behaviour are expressions of your character. Your words and actions can have a profound influence on you and on others. Express yourself in clean, positive, uplifting language and in actions that bring happiness to those around you” (True to the Faith [2004], pg 108).

Charity - Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you; “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:39).

Service - “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40); look for ways to serve one another.

Obedience - Obedience to the commandments is an expression for our love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

Wristbands - Your wristband must be worn at all times! It will get you in to all activities. Do not take it off or flip it over for any reason. If it breaks, take it to your counsellor as soon as possible, as your old one will be needed to receive a new one.

Mobile Phone Use - Mobile phones are not encouraged.  However, if Youth choose to bring their mobiles they are responsible for the own safe keeping.  Mobiles may be confiscated if they are used during organised meetings, devotionals, classes and other activities. For emergencies please contact the FSY Office. If your mobile phone has a camera, please do not use it when its use could be considered unwelcomed, distracting, or an interruption to others and their privacy.

Activity Attendance - You are required to go to all of the activities and to be on time.

Daily Materials - Be prepared for the day.  Make sure to keep a pen, your handbook and scriptures with you at all times and take them with you to every activity, class and company meeting. Hard copy scriptures are required during all organised meetings, devotionals, classes and other activities.

Classroom Etiquette - Always show respect and be on time to all of your classes. Make sure that you carry a pen, your daily agenda, handbook and scriptures so that you can participate fully during the lessons. Refrain from putting these away until after the closing prayer.

Respect - Be respectful to the university grounds, college officials, and other administrative personnel. We are their guests. Place all garbage in the bins and please don't litter.  Please remember that you represent FSY, the Church and most importantly the Lord.

Safety - For your safety, back flips, front flips, aerials, or risky gymnastics of any kind will not be permitted during the week—ask your counsellor if you have a question about what is permissible before you do it.

College Rooms - Members of the opposite sex are not permitted in your room or on the hall floor. You are also responsible for the maintenance of your room. If anything is damaged, you will be required to pay for replacement or any repairs. In order to comply with UQ College safety procedures, you must sleep in your own room from lights out until the next morning.

Room Key: Do not lose your room key. You will have to pay for replacements if you lose it.

Close Your Blinds - After every evening activity, go directly to your college room and close your room blinds. It is possible for people to see into your rooms at night when your blinds are open.

Lights Out and Head Count - At the end of the day’s activities, you will return to your college. Your counsellor will do a head count every evening before lights out. Lights must be turned out by 10:30pm.

Do Not Leave Campus - You must remain on campus throughout the week. In order to leave, you must have your parents sign a release form in the Site Office and come get you. Youth are not permitted to drive themselves to FSY, they must be dropped off and picked up.

Windows: Do not throw, toss, put, or place anything outside of any window.
